What is H1N1 Flu?
H1N1 flu is a new influenza virus causing illness in people. It has two genes from flu viruses that normally circulate in pigs in Europe and Asia, plus avian genes and human genes. Scientists call this a “quadruple reassortant” virus.
H1N1 flu is contagious. This new virus was first detected in people in the United States in April 2009. The virus is spreading from person-to-person, in the same way that regular seasonal influenza viruses spread.
H1N1 flu is NOT caused by eating pork or pork products. H1N1 flu is not a foodborne disease, it is a respiratory disease. The USDA continues to remind consumers that all meat and poultry products are safe to eat when properly prepared and cooked.
Illness with the new H1N1 flu virus has ranged from mild to severe. While the vast majority of people who have contracted H1N1 flu have recovered without needing medical treatment, hospitalizations and deaths have occurred.
About 70 percent of people who have been hospitalized with H1N1 flu have had one or more medical conditions that placed them in the “high risk” category for serious seasonal flu-related complications. These include pregnancy, diabetes, heart disease, asthma and kidney disease.
Unlike the seasonal flu virus, adults older than 64 do not yet appear to be at increased risk of H1N1 flu-related complications. CDC laboratory studies have shown that about one-third of adults older than 60 may have antibodies against this virus. It is unknown how much protection may be afforded against H1N1 flu by an existing antibody.
SYPMYOMS:Same as seasonal flu, but symptoms may be more severe.
Fever
Coughing and/or sore throat
Runny or stuffy nose
Headaches and/or body aches
Chills
Fatigue
In addition to the above symptoms, a number of H1N1 flu cases reported:
Vomiting
Diarrhea
I think that the swine flu is serious! I think that it is affecting a lot of us and even some are dieing, I also think it is not fair becuase it is hitting teenagers and wemon who is pregnant and also babies. I really dont think it is fair for the babies becuase its like they just came in to this world and they already have a chance to die because of the swine flu... I just feel like us mothers and fathers shouldnt have to worry about our babies getting the flu.
I just really feel the swine flu is a big deal I think that the shots are nessarsary and I believe that if you are infected then you need to stay away from people until you get better and you need to be treated.

WHY YOU SHOULD BE NICE TO EVERYONE?!
I think you should be nice to everyone. Everyone has feelings and cares about how people treat them. Everyone wants to have friends and wants to feel accepted. People want to know that they are noticed. I think you should be nice to eveyone because you could be in a lot of trouble one day and that person might be the only one to help you. You should be kind to everyone because wouldn't you want them to be kind to you?
I think that you should treat others they way you should be treated. I think that if someone no one likes that you should try extra hard to be nice to them and let people see that you are doing so. I think it is very important to be nice to everyone because it could come back on to you or maby a family member.
Say you are mean to this certain boy in school since the first grade to high school. Then he transfers schools to finish off. Then your kid is old enough to go to school. That boy that you were always mean to, you fregot about. Your kid comes home after the first day of school and tells you that this kid in his class keeps hitting him and calling him names. This doesn't stop and finally you meet with his parents to see if you can stop whats going on. Then when you meet the boys parents you realise that the boy who is bulling your kid is the son of the man that you bullied.
There is a lot of diffrent reasons why you should be nice to everyone. Everyone has feelings and you should care about them. Give someone a compliment that makes everyone feel happy!!!

Homelessness
I think that there is a lot of homeless people out in the world. I think that it is our duty as citizens to help them. Just doing a little for someone can do a lot for them. Like if you just give a person five dollars than that will help that person all day. Also you can transport that person to a shelter if he/she doesn't know how to get there or is to far away. You could help the person get cleaned up and take them to a job interview to help make some money to have some food or to get back on their two feet again. I think that an important issue is the people that pretend to be homeless. That makes people think twice about donating money because they don't know if the person is going to use it for drugs or just to buy something else. Thats one of the reasons why I think there is so many homeless people because we don't give them money. We don't know where the money is going. I think that if we all go the extra mile then we can make a big diffrence. WHAT DO YOU THINK?
